Quo vadis MBSE?

Obstacles and approaches to an end to end appliance of MBSE according to INCOSE SE vision 2035

In the Introduction System Engineering as Core DNA of Airbus Group will be presented giving an overview of EADS/Airbus history on System Engineering activities from the Eurofighter SEDRES project over Airbus Group Systems Engineering  Steering Group to the Modelling & Simulation stream within the Airbus Digital Transformation DDMS.

In the next chapter the INCOSE System Engineering Vision2035 is analyzed defining key characteristics of the future of system engineering & MBSE : Defining complex system of Systems using MBSE System Modelling and simulation Frameworks

This part of the keynote will focus on the missing end2end vision as a typical obstacle in implementing the MBSE vision in industrial projects. It will be elaborated, that If the principle questions in MBSE projects to use MBSE solely to produce documents or to go beyond and how to address the extended enterprise are not tackled in the very beginning of the project, project failure or limited benefit is likely to happen.

Before coming to conclusions and an outlook of successful MBSE implementation, the Airbus approach is introduced, presenting the Airbus MBSE Framework embedded within the Enterprise PLM-platform development and the EUREcA initiative to establish an extended enterprise approach with Dassault Aviation, Dassault Systemes and Airbus and first experiences in FCAS-program.
