Jonathan ARATA is currently a Principal Engineer with the Dassault Systèmes SIMULIA Industry Process Success team, focusing on Structures workflows involving Explicit Dynamics and Multiphysics simulations. Dr. ARATA’s career of over 3-decades has focused on the practice, application, research, and development of finite element analysis approaches to solving complex engineering problems.
Prior to joining DS in 2008, Dr. ARATA worked at a number of positions in-and-around the defense industry in the USA, beginning his professional career with General Dynamics Marine in Groton CT in 1988. After earning his doctorate in computational solid mechanics from Brown University in 2000, Dr. ARATA worked as a business developer, project manager, and senior applications engineer for several contract R&D companies in the Boston area.
His diverse career also includes brief stints as an independent consultant in addition to an adjunct faculty position at Tufts University where for 2-years he taught a first-year graduate course on FEA. In addition to his PhD from Brown, Dr. ARATA has also earned Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineer and Applied Mathematics, and is a New Jersey registered Professional Mechanical Engineer.
