Ralph SMITH commenced his career in the mining sector, initially working in geospatial engineering before moving into mining engineering. He is passionate about the need and benefits of business transformation, creating value and solving industry challenges. While the industry focuses on change, he has contributed to transformation for over 25 years.
During his professional career, he has worked on diverse projects, from 100kt to 30Mt production objectives across a range of commodities e.g. gold; copper; lead; zinc; silver; uranium; nickel; iron ore, talc; rare earths; and mineral sands around the globe.
He saw Dassault Systemes as the company with an established record of achieving business transformation in various industries, joining to lead the mining and infrastructure services globally and deliver value and facilitate positive change.
Mr Pandu SJAHRIR concurrently serves as Director of PT Admitra Baratama Nusantara (since 2013), Commissioner of PT Toba Bara Energi (since 2016), Commissioner of PT Adimitra Baratama Niaga (since 2017), President Commissioner of PT Perkebunan Kaltim Utama I (since 2018) and Commissioner of PT Batu Hitam Perkasa (since 2018) - all of them are the TBS Energi Utama Company’s subsidiaries. He also elected as the Chairman of Indonesian Coal Mining Association (APBI) for the 2021-2024 period, positions held since the 2015-2018 period.
Currently, he is listed as a Commissioner of the Indonesia Stock Exchange until 2023 and President Commissioner of the SEA Group. Not only that, Pandu is also trusted as the board of directors of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) for the period 2021-2026.
Served as director of the mining issuer PT TBS Energi Utama Tbk. (TOBA) is also preparing for business expansion in the electric vehicle sector. In addition, Pandu is also the Managing Partner of Indies Capital, an investment company that invests in various sectors, including MSMEs and startups. TBS Energi together with PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO) have formed a joint venture company called Electrum to develop the two-wheeled electric vehicle business.
Over the last 2 decades he has represented and/or consulted for many international conglomerates (Fortune 500/100/50/10 corporation) and has been active in infrastructure, bulk commodities trading, mining, energy (Coal, Oil and Gas), Petrochemicals/fertilizers and business development consulting sectors.
Mr. LAWSON was a market maker for commodities such as cement, when Indonesia became a net-exporter following the 1997 Asian financial crisis, and Palm Kernel Shell exports following the Kyoto Protocol implementation. In the fertilizer business, he was fundamental in the financing of the Pupuk Iskandar Muda II complex in Lhokseumawe, Aceh, through Long-term, Take-or-pay contracts with industry leading traders. In addition, he consulted PT. Pusri (then Holding Company) to establish sales tenders for Urea and Ammonia Gas exports.
In addition to his current role as Chief Operating Officer at PT. Sanaman Coal International, Mr. LAWSON is Technical Advisor at PT. Intiputera Kanaan, Senior Partner and Head of Advisory at Cakrabuana Ventura Indonesia, Managing Partner at Inticon Consulting, and is also currently the Vice-Chairman of both the Djakarta Mining Club and the Coal Club Indonesia, two organizations promoting exploration, mine development and sustainable mining practice.

Coming from an influential business family, head of Panasonic Gobel Energy Indonesia PT Rachmat GOBEL has also become a fixture in the country’s government
Rachmat Gobel is a key player in Indonesian business circles as well as its government, having been its Minister of Trade under President Joko Widodo and now an elected official in the People’s Representative Council.
He was first and foremost a businessman from the Gobel family that controls the Panasonic Gobel Group (previously the National Gobel Group until 2004). It’s a conglomerate of the Japanese consumer-electronics manufacturer based in Osaka, Japan. Panasonic Gobel was founded in 1987, while Rachmat GOBEL joined the company two years later.
After his short stint as Ministry of Trade from 2014-2015, GOBEL ran for a legislative seat in the 2019 elections and was elected as his Sulawesi hometown Gorontalo’s representative. One of his earliest forays into governance was when he was chosen to serve as chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce for the Metal, Machinery, Chemical and Electronic Industries in 2002.
GOBEL earned a degree in International Trade at Chuo University. He received honorary doctorates from Chuo University and Takushoku University (both in Tokyo) in 2014.
