Join this webinar and learn more about the "Virtual Porous Media Lab" and it's fundamental technology, benefits and much more.
The applications of porous media extend across nearly every industry, such as Infrastructure, Energy and Materials, Transportation and Mobility and High Tech. From underground oil and gas reservoirs to electric vehicles batteries and even the manufacturing of the wind turbine blades, understanding the pore and grain space statistics as well as flow performance of porous media is crucial for obtaining best results in the corresponding use cases. For example, lithium-ion batteries and fuel cells play a pivotal role in the electrification of transportation systems. Battery manufacturers face critical challenges, such as how to fine-tune battery microstructures to enhance charging speed and energy efficiency? There are also concerns regarding water management for efficient fuel cell operations in hydrogen-fueled vehicles. Reducing the carbon footprint evolved to a prime goal for all industries world-wide.Permanently storing CO2 in depleted oil and gas sub-surface reservoirs requires the assessment of the corresponding storage capacity and injectivity.
SIMULIA’s “Virtual Porous Media Lab” application has been created with these questions in mind. It provides access to a virtual lab for analyzing porous media that is faster, reproducible, and cost effective compared to physical testing. Leveraging our Lattice Boltzmann simulation technology, SIMULIA has developed this role to accurately predict single phase and multiphase flow behaviors based on 3-dimensional images of natural and manufactured porous media.
This Tech Talk introduces the fundamental technology, benefits, and explores various use cases across the industries.
