Simulations help to reduce development time and cost. As adhesives typically behave differently than common engineering materials such as steels or metals, it is important to understand the mechanical behavior of adhesives and have suitable models for accurate predictions. Various experimental techniques are shown that are associated with different material characteristics. Depending on the application and the relevant phenomena, different material models are chosen. Several application examples are shown to demonstrate the capabilities of simulations for adhesively bonded joints.
