This Tech Talk will give you practical information on using material models for elastomers and plastics.
Do you run structural simulations including parts made of rubber, elastomers or plastics? These simulations may require you to model the time-dependent mechanical response of materials. Abaqus includes the necessary material models and nonlinearities to do all of this and more.
This Tech Talk will give you practical information on using material models for elastomers and plastics. We will introduce topics related to configuring material models for structural simulation in Abaqus, including: an overview of hyperelasticity, adding viscoelasticity, stability and calibration of material models.
A half-model of a rubber isolator is shown here. These isolators (or bushings) are typically used to dampen vibrations in automotive suspensions and to isolate the engine of a car, truck, or semi. They are even found in other power generation structures.
