Join the episode and learn more about a new way of unified modeling and simulation, integrated on a platform that provides a single source of truth about the status of the aircraft geometry.
The ability to simulate complex physical problems in the aircraft development process with ever increasing levels of accuracy has made amazing advances in the last decade. But many of these capabilities remain in the domain of experts and are limited to niche problems that are solved in silos rather than being fully integrated and democratized in the development process. The full potential of simulation to revolutionize the aircraft development process is far from being realized today and physical tests on the ground and in the air are still dominant in most areas. Simulation thus becomes available to a larger pool of simulation engineers and true multi-disciplinary optimization is enabled.
We will present snapshots of an unified development process of a mid-size passenger aircraft from the concept stage through preliminary and detailed design to simulation-supported certification. In the concept phase we define key performance requirements and execute an MBSE analysis enhanced by 3D simulations to explore the design space for optimal aerodynamic and structural integrity characteristics. Once the basic aircraft architecture emerges from this process, high-fidelity simulations are carried out in the Detailed Design phase.
