Arnim HELLWEG, Dr. rer. nat., is a Scientific Developer at BIOVIA R&D. He holds a doctorate in physical chemistry from RWTH Aachen and has contributed to the quantum chemistry program TURBOMOLE, at the Karlsruhe Research Center (now KIT) and Ruhr University Bochum. At BIOVIA he works on predicting properties using COSMO-RS and porting solutions to the Cloud.
Michael DIEDENHOFEN, Ph.D. BIOVIA R&D Scientific Developer and Science Council Fellow, began with a chemical laboratory technician apprenticeship before earning his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Marburg, Germany, in 2000. His work, initially focused on quantum chemical methods for transition metal catalyzed reactions, led him to a role at COSMOlogic, part of Dassault Systèmes. At BIOVIA, he specializes in modeling molecular properties in solutions, contributing to the development of COSMO and COSMO-RS models for diverse applications. Diedenhofen has published over 30 peer-reviewed papers.
Dr. Frank ECKERT is Theoretical Chemist by education (PhD in the group of Hans-Joachim Werner at University of Stuttgart, Germany in 1997-1999). Frank joined COSMOlogic GmbH & Co KG (now Solvation Chemistry, a part of the BIOVIA brand of Dassault Systèmes) when the company was founded in 1999. He wrote most of the COSMOtherm code and is involved in the scientific development, quality management and maintenance of what are now the BIOVIA Solvation Chemistry program packages. Over the years, he has specialized in chemical engineering thermodynamics, including process modelling & CAPE-OPEN, and physicochemical properties. Frank is also an expert for the intersections of molecular modelling, quantum chemistry, and thermodynamics, for example in the modeling of reaction mechanisms and pKa calculation.
Uwe HUNIAR, Ph.D. is a Scientific Software Engineering Senior Manager at BIOVIA R&D and Application Manager of BIOVIA TURBOMOLE, with over 25 years of experience in computational quantum chemistry and method development for industry-relevant applications. He earned his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany (now part of KIT), focusing on quantum chemical methods and molecular spectroscopy, including NMR.
He began his career at COSMOlogic and later joined BIOVIA, where he provides scientific consulting and user support across a broad spectrum of applications, from advanced materials research to pharmaceutical sciences, while maintaining close collaboration with academia.
His recent work focuses on advancing BIOVIA TURBOMOLE as a cloud-based SaaS solution on the Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE platform and integrating AI-driven approaches into computational chemistry workflows.
