Game-changing technologies are creating disruptions in the established social and commercial relationships within the business world, and are driving fundamental changes in global supply chains.

Steve Tracey is the current executive director for both the Center for Supply Chain Research™ and Penn State Executive Programs at Penn State. He is responsible for the leadership, vision and strategy of one of the premier research centers in the creation and dissemination of new knowledge in supply chain management and serves as an ambassador and spokesperson for supply chain activities at Penn State.

In addition to his Center executive director role, Tracey is also a professor of practice in Supply Chain Management in the Smeal College of Business, delivering programs that address current supply chain management challenges and trends to both undergraduate students and a broad industry audience.

Prior to joining Penn State, from 1999 until mid-2014, Tracey was the senior vice president of Global Supply Chain at Standard Textile Company, the world’s largest marketer and manufacturer of institutional textiles. As the supply chain leader, Tracey led a team responsible for the global sourcing, manufacturing, distribution, and logistics operations of the company. Tracey’s group was instrumental in implementing forward-looking processes to manage the company’s service levels and operations to world-class standards.

Tracey has a diverse global experience directing operations with full P&L responsibilities in more than 14 countries. He is also a regular guest speaker in the Textile industry as an expert on the cotton and polyester commodity markets.

Tracey earned his B.S. in finance from Penn State University, and an M.B.A. from Duke University.
