As Chair of the Global Mining Guidelines Group (GMG), she helped develop best practices and guidelines for technology and socially enabled changes in mining. She is on advisory boards of startups, including Railveyor, OffWorld, Behault, and MineSpider.
Michelle was Chief Innovation Officer at Barrick Gold Corporation where she oversaw the company's innovation program. In 2016, Women in Mining UK named her one of “100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining” and she won “Technology Innovator of the Year” from Mines and Technology in 2019.
Liv is a chartered geologist with 19 years’ experience in the extractives industries, supported by an MSc in Mineral Project Appraisal from Imperial College, a BSc (Hons) in Geology from Durham University, and an Executive Course in Behavioural Science from London School of Economics & Political Science.
Liv is Accenture's Applied Intelligence Mining Lead and works with C-suite and client teams to define strategy and develop data-driven tools to transform working practices with the goals of improved safety, sustainability, ESG, and productivity. Actively driving the industry towards autonomous operations and developing critical capabilities, including effective tailings management, Liv supports mining operators, and their exploration teams, leveraging her experience of geoscience and operations as well as advanced platform and mobile technology, data science, analytics, machine learning, data engineering, and artificial intelligence.
Andrew Swart is a Partner at Deloitte based in Toronto and has more than 23 years of industrial experience of which the last eighteen years have been in consulting.
Andrew came across to Deloitte with the acquisition of the Monitor Group, where he was a partner. Andrew has worked with clients in multiple geographies and in a range of industries including mining, oil & gas, and government.
Andrew is the Deloitte Global Mining and Metals Leader as well as the Canadian Mining and Metals Leader.
His client engagements for Energy Resources and Industrials clients have included corporate strategy, innovation, and organizational transformation. He has also worked at the intersection of business and government – a key interface for natural resource companies.
Andrew has led engagements at clients such as Barrick, Vale, Suncor, CNPC, Capstone, Kinross, Hudbay Minerals, Nevsun, and KGHM. He has worked for clients around the world including Canada, Chile, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Brazil, Germany, India, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America.
Andrew started his career in mining with Anglo American before moving to Fluor Daniel.
He has a BSc and an MSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Natal (South Africa). He also holds an MBA from the University of Cape Town (South Africa).
